Physical and cognitive preparedness lays the foundation for living a healthy and injury free life. Whether it’s training in the gym, carrying our groceries or saving lives as a first responder, we need to take ownership of our movement. This involves training from a weakness-based perspective, teaching day-to-day movement patterns, body awareness and cognitive processing. Tactical fitness is about work, not workouts, and its carryover to real life. In this hands-on seminar, the focus will be on primal movement patterns for functional strength and mobility, as well as exploring how the nervous system affects our motor control and decision-making when stressed. We will also look at active mobility techniques to assess and improve joint health and movement potential. To train tactically means learning how to be more methodical, strategic and aware in our training. Participants will learn alternative coaching techniques and how to add intention into any class/workout for the beginner client, elite athlete and clinical populations alike. (w/s)

We need our core muscles to stabilize us during seated and standing dynamic postures. It’s helpful and effective to include seated and standing core work in our programming. These exercises are often excellent alternatives when your clients are unable to get on the floor due to various barriers. We often stick to floor crunches, planks and bugs but there also are a number of efficient exercises that can be performed from a seated or standing position. These can effectively target the multifidus, transverse abdominus and internal obliques without neck strain, crunching or being stuck on your back. Whether your clients are physically unable to get on the floor or if you’re looking for more functional upright core variations, this session will provide numerous examples. Join us and walk away with functional, purposeful and effective core work that your clients and participants will benefit from. (w/s)

An immersive experience awaits! Taking care of our mental health along with our physical health is not just a new trend for our industry, but a very powerful shift in the mindset of both us and our clients. The continuous elevated state that stress keeps us in impacts our overall well-being from sleep, digestion, mood, muscle recovery and chronic pain. We have to take time to slow down, to let our nervous system settle and to just be. End your conference day with a blissful experience, and learn how to share the same with your members. This workshop is designed to help us cultivate our Yin energy, to bring balance back, to restore and recover. Using concepts from Yoga, this is a slow flow practice with an emphasis on both increasing mobility through longer held stretches while settling and quieting the mind with a less is more approach. This session is designed to shift your mindset when it comes to dance fitness. You’ll learn about how dance fitness instructors can create a deeper connection with participants and build a stronger community by focusing more on the confidence-boosting effects dance has to offer and the ripple effect this can have in people’s lives. Over the years, dance fitness classes have adopted a “push play, and go” mentality and it seems like burning as many calories as possible has become the number one priority. And while burning calories while having fun is great, it doesn’t compare to the other amazing benefits of dance. You’ll also get to experience a Brazily Dance MasterClass and learn about how Brazilian music and dance along with our exclusive formula will change the dance fitness game! (L + w/o)
